As you get older, there are instances/events/moments you remember that stay with you and potentially shape your thoughts about life.

Now before you think I'm going to get really deep and philosophical, check out the picture on the right. Yup, it's a dish of macaroni cheese (or mac and cheese, if you're American).

I love food and have done forever (or at least as long as I can remember). And my one vivid memory of food as a very small kid is macaroni cheese. I don't even think I had it that often, but I distinctly recall eating it watching Champion The Wonder Horse on TV (a kids western with a cracking theme tune: "Like the swiftest arrow whizzing from a bow...")

I actually think that my love of really simple, tasty comfort food came from dishes like macaroni cheese. I love going to nice restaurants, but really can't stand formal stuffiness in them.

And to remind myself of what it's like, I've made macaroni cheese tonight. Yum!

Ah, it's one of those actually quite nice Sunday mornings. We ate a scrummy Shepherd's Pie last night, rounded off with an Apple & Plum Crumble, both made by my own fair hand. I guess I must be feeling better if I can make and consume food like that!

This morning poor Ava has got a stinker of a cold. Streaming nose and really congested - poor thing. Just not fair!
